I've done a few beer and cheese pairings in the past that have been met with success from surprised attendees. Just a few groups of friends, mind you, but a definite eye-opener for not only beer novices, but for myself as well. Great way to learn more about food pairing and should pique the interest of your pals. Go for it! I’m all in favor of number 2.
